Rep. Ilhan Omar states that “there is no way in Hell” she will attend the forthcoming address to Congress by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. The Squad of five (composing 1 percent of 435 House representatives) have unified behind the Herzog boycott.

I am a strong Zionist but not at all a fan of Isaac Herzog, Israel’s ceremonial “president.” Unlike America, where the president (I think it’s Joe Biden) is both the head of government and the head of state, Israel has a system like that of England, where a prime minister heads the government, and a ceremonial head of state acts as a unifying public figure, transcending politics, reflecting the nation’s highest public virtues. Queen Elizabeth II mastered the role.

In Israel, the current president is Isaac “Buji” Herzog. This guy has been a lifetime leftist, head of the socialist Israeli Labor Party. In his role as ceremonial president, occasionally he has nicely navigated between the Scylla and Charybdis of Israel’s robust politics. Many other times, though, he places a finger or two — or both hands and both feet — on the leftist side of Israel’s scales. He is not an impartial figure, and the reason is obvious. This guy headed the socialist Labor Party when it opposed Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s Likud coalition in elections, and he lost repeatedly to Bibi. He was government secretary from 1999 to 2001, under Israel’s second-most-incompetent prime minister, the leftist Ehud Barak, now an outspoken member of the extreme leftist Meretz party, and a world traveler famous for his especially close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Then Buji was a socialist Labor Party Knesset member for 16 years from 2003 to 2018. He was chairman of the Labor Party from 2013 to 2017, and he led the Knesset Opposition and the fight against Netanyahu and Likud from 2013 to 2018. He was Labor Party candidate for prime minister in 2015. Ten days after he was elected to head Labor, Buji met with Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas) to pledge his fealty to the “two-state solution.” In all, he has devoted more than 20 years of public life to opposing and fighting Netanyahu.

Buji is, in the old parlance of American criminal law, a three-time loser. In Israel, which has been dominated by conservative political values and religiously traditional family values for half a century since Menachem Begin’s “earthquake” political victory over Labor Socialist Shimon Peres in 1977, the leftists of Labor cannot win elections. So they manipulate when they get a turn at the ceremonial presidency. Still, there is “no way in Hell” that a Jew hater like Ilhan Omar can transcend her Somalian Muslim hatred of Jews even when they are identified with Israel’s left-wing.

The American left-wing media used to love Israel in the 1950s and 1960s because they knew she was not a colonialist outpost of colonialism. Rather, they had witnessed firsthand how Jews went to the gallows fighting British colonialists, ultimately freeing Israel from foreign occupation. Through the Haganah, Palmach, Irgun, and Lechi, the Jewish underground fought British colonialism for more than a decade. It was tough. The British treated Jews in Israel like Zulus, and, whenever anyone got out of line, the British would publicly whip and flog Jewish men and youths with whips and canes. That stopped only when the Irgun made true on their warning and kidnaped three British sergeants, took them to a forest, stripped them to their undies, and whipped their backs and buttocks. They then returned the sergeants to their wives, retaining the uniforms for future operations. After those counter-floggings, no British officer ever whipped another Jew ever again.

The American left-wing media loved that Israel was ending a vestige of World War I colonialism. And they loved even more that Israel then was governed by Marxist socialists: David Ben-Gurion, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Golda Meir, Moshe Dayan, Yigal Allon, and others. It was the land of the Marxist socialist kibbutz collective where all property was shared, and all parents placed their kids in the community children’s center. Kids slept in that center at night, not with their own parents. Socialists came from all over the world to “spend time on kibbutz,” finding an environment like an Oregon commune. Bernie Sanders visited; he loved that Israel. It was not quite Stalin Communism, with those bread lines he adored, but it was the next best thing.

Oh, how the Left loved Israel! It made loving movies about Israel, like Exodus, where a blonde-haired American Christian falls in love with a great Zionist fictional hero, Ari Ben Canaan: “Those were the days, my friend; we thought they’d never end.” All Israelis were Paul Newman, and the Eva Marie Saints could not keep their hands off them.

And then Israel changed. Three horrible disasters ruined everything with the leftist media:

1. In June 1967, the Arab world set out to eradicate Israel from the face of the earth. The Left loved Israel even more now. In its universe of Victimology, the Left absolutely loves Jews about to be slaughtered in the millions. Think of all the movies and second generation of Holocaust museums! Egypt’s president, Gamal Abdel Nasser, asked U Thant, then secretary-general of the United Nations, to remove the U.N. peacekeeping force that stood as a barrier against Egypt invading Israel, and U Thant obliged immediately. Then Nasser formally launched an act of war by blockading the Straits of Tiran from Israeli shipping. The Left was so excited! For those who missed the last Holocaust 20 years earlier because they were too young, here was their chance to report on the sequel: Holocaust II: Israel in Flames! Only one problem: No one got the script to Israel in time. No one in Israel knew they were supposed to be obliterated. So they made the colossal error of winning the war in Six Days. The Left has hated them ever since.

2. Young up-and-coming Benjamin Netanyahu was named finance minister of Israel in 2003, assigned to cure a dying economy weighed down by half a century of suffocating socialism. That cabinet post was a graveyard appointment. Instead, Bibi ignited an economic revolution, upended the entire socialist order, and created a capitalist economy. Alas, by changing Israel from Marxist socialist to capitalist, he made lifetime enemies of the Left.

3. Israel’s third mistake: Menachem Begin ended the reign of Labor socialism. According to all Israeli polls, the Labor Party that ruled Israel from its founding in 1948 through 1977 is presently expected to disappear from the political map of Israel in the next election, not winning a single seat in the 120-seat Knesset (parliament). The Left never has forgiven Israel for shifting right.

Except for the screwy paradox that underlies the American Jewish experience, where at least 30–40 percent of “Jews” are not actually Jews, throughout the entire rest of the world Jews predominantly are conservative and Orthodox affiliated. They have voted conservative several cycles in England, where Orthodox Judaism is the primary religious affiliation; are insanely anti-communist in both Russia and Ukraine; and are right-wing and religiously traditional in Israel. And the leftist media hate them for it.

So now this ceremonial head of state, Isaac Herzog, with no real influence but a nice title and a lifetime of leftist political leadership, is coming to America to speak to Congress. Joe Biden, whose policy paper on fighting anti-Semitism has been exposed by the Zionist Organization of America as an outright fraud, refuses to meet with the elected prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, because he will get an earful from Bibi about how utterly suicidal it is to try paying Iran billions more in return for promises that are lies before they even exit the Ayatollahs’ mouths. So Biden instead has invited the unelected, ceremonial leftist president of Israel.

The most fascinating part of the story is that the Jew haters of the Squad are so anti-Semitic that they will boycott even Herzog, who is almost as far-left as they are. But his taint is that he is a Jew from Israel. So Ilhan Omar, Somalia’s gift to America, says that “there is no way in Hell” she will attend. So Rashida Tlaib, the House “Palestinian” [sic], also won’t attend. So Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the leader of these Jew haters, also won’t attend. The Squad’s other two Jew haters joined them next: Jamaal Bowman and someone named Something Jayapal. Jayapal is here courtesy of India, inventors of the caste system, to declare Israel “racist.” She gets away with that garbage because, among the woke, she is Untouchable.

May the left-wing component of American Jews behold the rewards for throwing their lot in with the woke “progressive” Left. The Squad hate them. Even when woke Jews try contending they are Soros intersectionalists, BIPOCs respond, “So why do you call yourself a Jew?” The Squad would destroy them as surely as they would Isaac Herzog and Israel, if only they represented more than one percent of the House’s 435 congressional districts.

We see this leftist anti-Semitism everywhere. Jews now see their own children shoved out of the Ivy League to make room for others on the woke ladder. The number of Jews in the Ivy League has decreased by half over the last 10 years. Similarly, Jews founded the movie industry, creating an “Empire of Their Own.” Yet, recently, a new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures opened — and Jews were all but erased from movie history. Never existed. That is how the Soviets handled history in the USSR and how the Nazis did it in Germany. Jews who had devoted so many resources to their lands of birth were erased from their histories. And the Squad now is doing its best to erase Israel.

Alas for Ilhan Omar, the Somalian Muslim Jew hater who at one point married her brother, her dreams of a “Palestine” with Zionism eradicated will never happen. No way on earth or wherever else Ilhan Omar ends up.
