FBI Director Christoher Wray refused to turn over subpoenaed documents to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability by the May 30 deadline.
According to a joint subpoena request by Kentucky Rep. James Comer and Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the unclassified FBI form allegedly contains information regarding President Joe Biden’s involvement in an illegal bribery scheme with a foreign national during his vice presidency.
A statement released on May 30 by Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, read: “Today, the FBI informed the Committee that it will not provide the unclassified documents subpoenaed by the Committee. The FBI’s decision to stiff-arm Congress and hide this information from the American people is obstructionist and unacceptable.”

The statement also indicates that the committee will hold Wray in contempt of Congress for his refusal to turn over the subpoenaed documents.
The document was requested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Biden family, according to the Washington Times.
After a Wednesday phone call with Wray, Comer stated that the FBI director “did not commit to producing the documents subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee.”
The statement indicated that Wray confirmed the existence of the form.
Other congressional Republicans, such as Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, promised to hold him accountable for his actions.
“If he doesn’t, we will hold him in contempt of Congress,” Greene tweeted. “I’ve even introduced Articles of Impeachment to remove him from office.”
McCarthy pledged to bring charges of contempt: “I have a message for FBI Director Christopher Wray: If he misses today’s deadline to turn over subpoenaed documents to Congress, I am prepared to move contempt charges against him.”

According to the Washington Times, Greene expressed some skepticism regarding the likelihood that her fellow Republicans would follow through on confronting the Biden administration.
“Why would [voters] elect us if we just allow this to continue?” Greene asked.
If Wray is held in contempt of Congress, he could be criminally prosecuted by the DOJ if the House also votes in favor of doing so.
