The House Oversight Committee is holding an impeachment hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday to examine Joe Biden’s participation in his family’s influence-peddling schemes around the world.

Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis, both former associates of Hunter Biden, are scheduled to testify—Galanis via Zoom from the Alabama prison where he is serving a 14-year prison sentence for securities fraud. Both witnesses went scorched earth on Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and House Democrats in their opening statements.

The Democrats’ called as their witness, Lev Parnas, a Soviet-born American businessman and former associate of Rudy Giuliani who is a critic of the impeachment allegations.

Two other key witnesses in the probe,  Devon Archer and Hunter Biden himself, declined the invite to publicly testify.

In his opening remarks, House Oversight  Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) outlined how the Bidens sold Joe Biden around the world to enrich the Biden family. According to Comer,  Joe Biden acted as “the closer” in Hunter’s business deals by dining, attending meetings, speaking on speakerphone, and having coffee with his son’s foreign business associates.

“What is apparent, after over a year of investigation, is that the Bidens do not work in any traditional sense of the word. They do not work as consultants. Or lawyers. Or advisors. The Bidens don’t sell a product or a service or a set of skills,” Comer said. “The Bidens sell Joe Biden.”

Chairman Comer argued that there are only two explanations for the Bidens’ scam: “The first is that Joe Biden knows exactly what he is doing, and knows a handshake, a wink, and a smile is enough for him to maintain, as Jim Biden called it, ‘plausible deniability.’

“Or Joe Biden is being led around by his family and has no idea who he is meeting with or what message he is sending and is truly ‘an elderly man with a poor memory.’

“There is no other explanation: either Joe Biden is complicit, or Joe Biden is incompetent.”

In advance of the hearing the House Oversight Committee released a video they said expose “Joe Biden’s lies about his family’s influence peddling business.”

Oversight Republicans say the footage from transcribed interviews with witnesses who are testifying today proves “Joe Biden knew of, participated in, and benefitted from his family cashing in on the Biden name around the world.”
