An illegal alien from Honduras dragged an ICE officer behind his vehicle for nearly a block in Texas earlier this week in an attempt to escape detainment. The assault resulted in multiple injuries to the officer’s body.  U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement posted photos of the officer’s injuries on social media.

The Dallas ICE Field Office posted a “Be on the Lookout” alert on X following the incident.

“JOSE MELGAR-RIVAS is wanted for aggravated assault against a federal officer and was last seen fleeing on foot in Northwest Oklahoma City,” ERO Dallas announced on Tuesday.

Melgar-Rivas, 34, was arrested later Tuesday in a joint effort with ICE involving the FBI Field Office in Oklahoma City and Department of Homeland Security Investigations Dallas.

“We will not tolerate the assault of our federal law enforcement officers,” ERO Dallas stated.

Melgar-Rivas is now facing charges for assaulting a federal officer on top of his final removal order, ICE said.

The vehicular assault on the Dallas ICE officer was just the latest of a string of attacks against immigration and law enforcement officers in Texas.

On the 4th of July, heavily armed antifa agitators from the Dallas-Fort Worth ambushed an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, setting off fireworks to lure police to the scene and shooting a responding officer in the neck.

And on July 7, a gunman armed with tactical gear and a rifle opened fire upon Border Patrol agents at the entrance of a Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen, Texas, injuring two police officers and a Border Patrol employee.

The Department of Homeland Security Announced on July 15 that ICE Law Enforcement officers are now facing an 830 percent increase in assaults against them.

“These are the individuals who risk their lives EVERY DAY removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens from America’s communities,” DHS’s X account posted on Tuesday. “Our ICE agents are real people—with families and children—who wake up each day committed to protecting the homeland. They deserve the gratitude and support of our nation.”

“Democrat politicians and Sanctuary City insurrectionists have inspired a wave of terrorist violence against ICE,” White House Homeland Security advisor Stephen Miller commented on X Thursday in reaction to the latest incident in Texas.
