A Texas State representative has referred Texas A&M University to the Trump administration for investigation after a professor kicked a student out of her children’s literature class because the student objected to the “persistent transgender and DEI indoctrination” being taught in the curriculum.

According to Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison (R.), the student was told to leave and not come back after questioning the legality of the subject matter. President Donald Trump has sought to thwart radical leftist propaganda in education through executive orders and through using federal funding as leverage.

“The policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality,” Trump stated in his January 20 executive order, DEFENDING WOMEN FROM GENDER IDEOLOGY EXTREMISM AND RESTORING BIOLOGICAL TRUTH TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

In a letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. and Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahan, Rep. Harrison stated: “Since the Texas government hasn’t ended this taxpayer-funder liberal indoctrination, I am writing to respectfully request that you or other agencies take any appropriate actions to ensure that Texas universities receiving federal funds are complying with President Trump’s executive orders.”

Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison also fired off a letter to Governor Greg Abbott demanding that he fire the A&M officials involved and instruct his Regents at all public universities in Texas to immediately end any and all DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination.

The congressman shared on X videos the student whistleblower provided showing her classroom confrontation with the instructor, Dr. Melissa McCoul, and her telephone conversation with Texas A&M President Mark Welsh.

Harrison shared leaked slides from the class, which include the infamous “gender unicorn,” which espouses extreme transgender ideology.

Harrison said the “taxpayer funded professor” also taught what could arguably be considered “encouragement to engage in criminal child grooming.”

During one class, for example, the professor allegedly taught that “childhood is the time for figuring out how to be a boy, girl, man, woman, or another gender” and that “children and adolescents are expected to be sexless, even as our culture valorizes, idealizes, and even eroticizes youth.”

The professor allegedly also provided instructional materials that stated: “why talk about queerness at all [in Children’s literature]? Isn’t that way too “adult” for little kids? Well, no.”

Additional slides shared by Harrison on X feature a segment entitled: “Queer History and Moral Maturation in Young Adult Literature About the AIDs Crisis,” which includes a discussion about “queer melancholia theory.”

In one exercise, students were told to share their personal pronouns.

The children’s literature course also explores “diversity in children’s literature,” “critical race theory,” and “toxic masculinity.”

The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, politely told McCoul during the recorded confrontation that she believed the course material violated President Trump’s executive orders regarding Transgender and DEI propaganda in education, as well as the religious sensibilities of many Texas A&M students.

“I just have a question because I’m not entirely sure this is legal to be teaching because according to our president, there are only two genders and he said he would be freezing agencies’ funding programs that promote gender ideology,” the young woman began tenatively.

“This also very much goes against, not only myself, but a lot of people’s religious beliefs,” the student added. “And so I am not going to participate in this because it’s not legal.”

McCoul then asked the student if she was “suggesting” that her teaching on gender and sex was “false.”

Without hesitation, the student answered, “yes.”

“You are under a misconception that what I’m saying is illegal,” the professor replied.

McCoul then insisted that her views on gender identity and gender expression were “biologically true,” and said she didn’t think the student would have any luck stopping her from teaching those views.

“Because I do have the legal and ethical authority [and] professional expertise in this classroom,” McCoul told the student, adding, “It’s time for you to leave.”

The young woman also had no luck when she complained to Texas A&M President Mark Welsh about the problematic curriculum.

“Tell me what exactly you want changed,” Welsh said. “I mean, you’re just trying to pick a fight here, what do you want?”

The student insisted that she was not trying to pick a fight.

“What do you expect us to do, fire her?” Welsh demanded.

“Yes, absolutely,” the student responded.

“That’s not happening!” Welsh snapped back.

He went on to defend the radical LGBTQ courses, saying they’ve been offered for a long time “to train future “school superintendents.”

In his letter to Gov. Abbott, Harrison, who served as the chief of staff at the Department of Health and Human Services during Trump’s first term, said: “During my short time in the Texas legislature I have become aware that Texas may be the biggest promoter and funder of DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination in America,” before detailing the student whistleblowers complaints. He reminded the governor that he had vowed in his State of the State Address in January, that “any educator who tells students that boys can be girls should be fired on the spot.”

“I am respectfully requesting that you, in line with your January directive, (1) direct your politically appointed regents at Texas A&M to immediately fire this professor and President Welsh, (2) direct all of your politically appointed regents at all of our public universities to immediately take all necessary action necessary to rid all DEI and LGBTQ activity and instruction, and (3) call the legislature back for a special session to finally pass a total ban on taxpayer funded DEI and LGBTQ indoctrination within any state agency, including our public universities,” Harrison wrote.
