Max Meyer shared on X today what he said is a “sick, twisted email in which Reid Hoffman’s chief political advisor Dmitri Mehlhorn says that newspapers need to consider that Trump may have staged the shooting – with PUTIN.”
“It’s time for Reid to apologize for his repeated attempts to weaponize hoaxes against the American public,” posted Meyer. “He created the E. Jean Carroll hoax. He ran a disinformation operation during the Alabama Senate election in ’17. Just this morning he repeated the ‘bloodbath’ hoax.”
Hoffman, the founder of professional social media network LinkedIn, has contributed more than $17.6 million to Democrats in the current political cycle, reported MarketWatch in June.
The Daily Beast reported on Melhorn’s comments, writing:
His comments came days after Hoffman sarcastically—and controversially—told GOP mega-donor Peter Thiel that he wished he had made Trump “an actual martyr” through the funding of lawsuits like E. Jean Carroll’s against Trump and Smartmatic’s against Fox News and Newsmax.
Mehlhorn recently said that he and Hoffman have invested “nine figures” to defeat Trump, reported Semafor, which first broke the news of Mehlhorn’s email pushing the idea of the “staged” assassination attempt.
