On Wednesday, the United States Senate confirmed former Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) as the next Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).

As reported by Breitbart, Loeffler was confirmed by a margin of 52-46. All Republicans voted in favor, with two senators being absent for the vote: Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), both Republicans. A lone Democrat, Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), also voted for Loeffler’s confirmation.

Loeffler is the 18th Cabinet nominee to be confirmed during the second Trump Administration. As the SBA Administrator, Loeffler will be in charge of an agency that describes itself as the only federal agency “fully dedicated to small business.” The SBA’s self-described purpose is to provide “counseling, capital, and contracting expertise as the nation’s only go-to resource and voice for small businesses.”

The SBA was first founded in 1953. In recent years, it has provided financial support to businesses that were impacted by the nationwide lockdowns as a result of the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic.

Loeffler, who was formerly a businesswoman, was appointed to the U.S. Senate from Georgia by Governor Brian Kemp (R-Ga.) in January of 2020, following the resignation of Senator Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.). Loeffler went on to lose her first election that same year to far-left pastor Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.). She fended off a primary challenge from then-Congressman Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who was recently confirmed as President Trump’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA).

With Loeffler’s confirmation, only a small handful of Cabinet nominees remain to be confirmed. The only secretary positions left to be voted upon by the Senate are Linda McMahon for Secretary of Education and Lori Chavez-Deremer for Secretary of Labor. Non-Secretary positions left to be confirmed include Elise Stefanik for United Nations Ambassador and Jamieson Greer for U.S. Trade Representative.

On Thursday, the Senate will hold the final confirmation vote for Kash Patel, President Trump’s nominee for Director of the FBI.
