NextImg:Sen. Mike Lee: ‘2025 Is Shaping Up to Be the Next Big, Pivotal Year’ In American History

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) warns that 2025 could be a year of dramatic change in American government, following a Thursday meeting between Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and lawmakers who met to discuss Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) plans.

Following yesterday’s discussion about the proposed presidential advisory commission tasked with cutting government spending and waste, Lee tweeted that both Musk and Ramaswamy pointed out that unelected bureaucrats make most federal law and control much of our economy.

This, Lee said, is how we’ve been stripped of the benefits of a constitutional republic.

During the meeting, Ramaswamy noted that the need for accountability from their own government was the reason the founders fought and won the American Revolution.

Lee explained that throughout Anglo-American history, there have been periods of major upheaval every 75-90 years, just like clockwork.

Sen. Lee specifically singled out the years 1776, 1861 and 1937 as the years in which game-changing events took place that kickstarted pivotal shifts in the U.S.

In 1776, he noted that we declared our independence from a large, distant government that recognized no limits on its authority and that refused to hold itself accountable to the American people.

In 1861, Lee said the War Between the States began which hastened the end of the tragic chapter of slavery in America.

In 1937, he described how progressives in all three branches of FDR’s government centralized power in the federal government and largely destroyed the separation of powers under federalism.

Lee then warned that 2025 may well be another of those pivotal years in which, for just the fourth time in our 248 year history, the country is on the cusp of significant change that will limit bureaucratic overreach.

The Senator from Utah emphasized that cutting costs and government spending is but a small part of restoring accountability to the federal government and he called upon Congress to aggressively step up and take back control from the unelected bureaucrats.

Lee stated, “Remember, this isn’t only about less government; it’s about better government. It’s about government that respects the Constitution and the will of the people.”

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson says he’s on board and agrees that government is too big and the taxpayers deserve better.

Soon enough we’ll see if Speaker Johnson’s actions will line up with his words and whether 2025 lives up to its pivotal potential.
