Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed Monday that the U.S. State Department is actively revoking the visas of any foreigner who celebrated the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk.
“We are not in the business of inviting people to visit our country who are going to be involved in negative and destructive behaviors,” Rubio stated during a sit down interview with Fox News’s Gillian Turner.
Since Kirk’s brutal murder, thousands of leftists have openly shared their gleeful reactions on social media. In addition to crowing that the 31-year-old conservative husband and father somehow deserved it, many have even directed hate toward his surviving wife and children and expressed support for more political violence against their political opponents.
While hosting the Charlie Kirk Show from the White House Monday, Vice President JD Vance strongly condemned these unhinged Democrats, saying there can be no unity between conservatives and left-wing “lunatics.”
“The data is clear, people on the left are much likelier to defend and celebrate political violence,” he said. “This is not a both-sides problem. If both sides have a problem, one side has a much bigger and malignant problem, and that is the truth.”
President Trump offered his blunt take when asked about the Utah governor’s “overall message of nonviolence” ahead of his trip to the United Kingdom, Tuesday Morning. Trump said he agreed with the governor, but added “most of the violence is on the left.”
While many of the individuals cheering Kirk’s murder have already lost their jobs over their grossly inappropriate behavior, foreigners, according to Rubio, should be held to an even higher standard.
“If we invite someone to visit the United States of America as a student, as a tourist, as whatever, the standard they should be held to is very high,” the secretary explained.
“We shouldn’t be giving visas to people who are going to come to the United States and do things like celebrate the murder, the execution, the assassination of a political figure, he added. “And if they’re already here, we should be revoking their visas. Why would we want to bring people into our country that are going to engage in negative and destructive behavior? It makes no sense.”
The State Department was quick to address the issue, with a statement one day after the assassination.
“In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country,” said Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on September 11. “I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action. Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention so that the @StateDept can protect the American people.”
Rubio took to social media Monday night to reiterate: “America will not host foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens.”
He added: “Visa revocations are under way. If you are here on a visa and cheering on the public assassination of a political figure, prepare to be deported. You are not welcome in this country.”
