On Wednesday, President Donald Trump ordered an end to the “American Climate Corps,” a program that had been implemented by Joe Biden to further promote so-called “green energy.”

As the Washington Free Beacon reports, all eight federal entities that had originally been assigned to manage the Climate Corps issued orders eliminating the program and repealing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) that created it. Among the agencies that were originally responsible for the Climate Corps were the White House, the Department of the Interior, and AmeriCorps. The program’s website was also deactivated.

“Another win, on Wednesday, Biden’s ‘American Climate Corps’ was officially shuttered,” said a White house official. “President Trump promised to end the Green New Scam, and he is doing just that.”

One of many Biden-era policies that President Trump vowed to roll back was the emphasis on “green” sources of energy and increased restrictions on emissions in the name of combatting so-called “global warming.” Shortly after returning to office, President Trump reopened millions of acres of American land for increased oil production, resumed exports of natural gas, and eliminated “environmental justice” programs across the country. All of these policies, and more, were collectively known as the “Green New Deal.”

Despite its title, the Climate Corps was also set to focus heavily on racial, gender, and sexual identity initiatives parallel to the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda. When it was first announced in September of 2023, it declared that it would enlist a “new, diverse generation” to deal with energy.

Biden tried to fund the Climate Corps by reallocating funding from other federal programs. He then requested $8 billion to fund the program in his 2024 budget proposal, with the goal of hiring another 50,000 people through the Climate Corps up to the year 2031. That request was never passed by Congress.
