On Wednesday, a memorandum from the Department of Defense (DOD) ordered the removal of all transgender service members within 60 days, thus reenacting a ban that President Donald Trump had previously implemented in his first term.
According to The Hill, the memo acts upon the executive order signed by President Trump on January 27th, which is the subject of two different lawsuits challenging its legality. The order says that any and all troops who identify as “transgender” will be removed unless they can be granted a waiver demonstrating their possession of “warfighting capabilities.”
“Service by these individuals is not in the best interests of the Military Services and is not clearly consistent with the interests of national security,” the memo declares.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued his own directive earlier in February halting the integration of transgender recruits, as well as cancelling all transgender treatment for current service members, which includes hormone therapy and gender mutilation surgery. Secretary Hegseth’s order recognizes that there are only two genders: Male and female. As such, all troops can “only serve in accordance with their sex.”
Democrats have voiced their opposition to the order, continuing to double down on their support for transgenderism despite public opinion polling consistently showing that an overwhelming majority of Americans do not approve of the scientifically false and debunked ideology.
“Any policy that prevents transgender people from serving as transgender people — whether through an outright ban or through requirements to serve in one’s birth sex — is a ban, plain and simple,” said Congressman Gil Cisneros (D-Calif.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
It has been widely acknowledged, including through multiple studies, that troops suffering from gender dysphoria – the disease of believing that they are somehow the opposite gender from which they were actually born – threaten the safety of their units due to having such a mental disorder. Individuals who treat this disease with hormone therapy and other treatments that only indulge their delusions also risk combat readiness due to the influence of drugs that alter their physical and mental state. Despite this, the Biden Administration reversed President Trump’s original transgender ban and actively encouraged more “transgender” people to join the military, in the name of diversity.
