NextImg:MTG Calls Out Foreign Aid Spending In Defense Appropriations Bill: ‘No One Sends Us Aid’

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has demonstrated her opposition to continuing foreign aid spending in the pending Defense Appropriations Bill by introducing amendments to the bill that would strip billions in foreign aid.

Speaking before the House of Representatives, Greene reminded the Speaker that the mission statement of the Department of Defense (DoD) is to “deter war and insure our nation’s security” and said, “and that is what their funding should be for.”

Greene asked what foreign countries had shown up during times of humanitarian crisis or need in America, rattling off several examples of dire need here in America that would be better served by those dollars being sent to other countries.

Greene expressed frustration that Congress would continue to send billions of dollars in funding to other nations when the American people are struggling under a $37 trillion debt that she says, “We can never climb out of. A debt that continues to rise.”

The congresswoman questioned why U.S. lawmakers hold the belief that Congress needs to “fund every foreign country, all around the world” when “Americans can’t afford their rent” and “young people cannot afford to buy a home.”

Greene continued, noting that many Americans are struggling to pay their bills and “can’t afford car insurance, health insurance, homeowners insurance.”

With life becoming unaffordable for many Americans, Greene accused  Congress of listening to lobbyists rather than the American people as it continues to support what she calls “America Last” spending.

Green called for a “Department of Defense that puts America first” by focusing on its mission to “deter war and ensure our nation’s security.”
