NextImg:Kari Lake Caught Secretly Recording Private Meetings; Throws GOP Into Disarray in Must Win State For Trump

Arizona GOP Chairman Jeff DeWit resigned after the released of a secretly recorded conversation in which he purportedly floated a job to U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake in exchange for her “pausing” from running for office for two years.

Lake had hinted at the conversation ten months ago while speaking at CPAC 2023.

Following the release of the recording, Lake demanded DeWit resign.

He resigned yesterday afternoon, writing in his resignation letter that Lake’s team told him to resign or they would release another “more damaging recording.”

“I am truly unsure of its contents, but considering our numerous past open conversations as friends, I have decided not to take the risk,” wrote DeWit.

“They are very powerful people,” a voice that is allegedly DeWit says in the recording. “They want to keep you out.”

“I know when they do,” said Lake.

“They are willing to put their money where their mouth is, in a big way,” replied the voice that is allegedly DeWit.

In his resignation letter, DeWit said the secret recording “raises serious legal and moral concerns.”

“This conversation was recorded while I was actually employing Lake in my private company,” wrote DeWit. “In fact, for over a year and a half we had many conversations where I was looking out for her financial interests.”

“The ethical breach in her recording of our conversation, while Lake was my employee, raises serious legal and moral concerns,” he wrote.

This isn’t the first time Lake has secretly recorded a conversation.

In October, a video and audio recording of a conversation between Lake and U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Phoenix), who is also running for U.S. Senate, at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, was also released.

Arizona is a “one-party consent” state — meaning that only one party in a two-way conversation has to provide permission to record a conversation.

With her history of secretly recording conversations, other high-profile people who have engaged in supposedly private conversations with Lake have a right to be concerned.

Lake is a frequent visitor to Mar-a-Lago, for example. Has she secretly recorded conversations there, in the home of Donald Trump? If so, who did she record?

And, since Florida is a “two-party consent” state — meaning that both parties in a conversation need to provide permission for the conversation to be recorded — was the recording against the law?

Meanwhile, Arizona is now left without a Republican Party chairman during an Election Year in which Arizona is a must-win for former President Donald Trump.

And the chairman forced out due to Lake’s secret recording was a staunch supporter of the former president, with DeWit having served as Chief Operating Officer of the 2020 Trump campaign.

President Trump himself is coming to Phoenix tomorrow for the Arizona GOP’s Freedom Fest. The former president’s team might find it wise to ensure that Lake and her team are free of any surreptitious listening devices before engaging Lake in any conversations.
