Joe Biden delivered remarks to supporters in Virginia Thursday evening following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s embarrassing report on Biden’s handling of classified documents.
The Biden Justice Department said no criminal charges would be leveled against Biden, in part, because his cognitive state is so “diminished” his attorneys would have been able to use his inability to remember anything about the documents as a defense.
“We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote in the eye-opening 388-page report, released Thursday after a yearlong investigation.
Reading from the teleprompter, Biden said he was pleased that Hur “reached a firm conclusion that no charges should be brought against me in this case.”
“The special counsel acknowledged I cooperated completely. I did not throw up any roadblocks. I sought no delays,” he said, adding that he cooperated with the probe and sat for a five hour interview over two days in October, “even though Israel had just been attacked by Hamas.”
The Q & A with reporters did not go well for him.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy pointed to the Special Counsel’s description of Biden as an “elderly, well-meaning man.”
“I am well-meaning. And I’m an elderly man. And I know what the hell I’m doing,” Biden seethed. “I’ve been president – I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation.”
When asked about his memory lapses, Biden responded with an attempt at a joke: “My memory is so bad I let you speak. My memory is fine.”
“Take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve become president,” Biden said. “None of you thought I could pass any of the things I got passed. How’d that happen?”
A CNN reporter reminded him of all the times he had said “watch me” when asked about his fitness for office.
“The American people have been watching and they have expressed concerns about your age,” the reporter said.
Biden interrupted her angrily, “that is your judgement! That is your judgement!” he barked. “That is not the judgement of the press.”
After insisting that his memory was fine, Biden referred to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as the the president of Mexico.
“Initially, the president of Mexico — Sisi — did not want to open up the gate to allow humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate. I talked to Bibi to open the gate on Israeli side. I’ve been pushing really hard, really hard to get humanitarian assistance into Gaza. There are a lot of innocent people who are starving. Lots of innocent people are in trouble and dying. And it’s got to stop.” He didn’t correct himself.
Biden also slammed Special Counsel Hur for including in his report that he could not remember when his son Beau died.
“How in the hell dare he raise that? Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, it was none of their damn business,” Biden thundered.
Biden started to say he wore his son’s rosary every day since the day Beau died, but stopped, when he appeared to forget where the rosary came from. “Every Memorial Day we hold a service remembering him, attended by friends and family and the people who loved him,” Biden continued, after a pause. “I don’t need anyone. I don’t need anyone to remind me when he passed away.”
Biden also bizarrely claimed that he had vowed to be a “president” for everybody “whether they were from a red state or a green state.”
When asked if he took responsibility for storing the classified materials in his home and office for decades, Biden blamed his staff.
“I take responsibility for not having seen exactly what my staff was doing,” he said.
Biden blew his top when asked if he had shared classified information.
“I did not share classified information!” he bellowed.
“Joe Biden is a corrupt, demented, dangerous liar, and he must be impeached and removed from office. Immediately,” wrote the Federalist’s Sean Davis on X. “After this press conference and the DOJ findings today, he simply cannot remain in office.”
