NextImg:How Popular is DOGE with American Voters? New Poll Shows ‘Massive’ Support

A Harvard CAPS Harris poll shows the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative has strong public support for its focus on eliminating government waste, fraud and inefficiency.

76% of the 2,443 registered U.S. voters who were surveyed for the poll say they support the effort to identify and reduce waste and fraud in government expenditures.

The poll’s results are a stark contrast to much of the legacy media’s coverage of DOGE efforts, which have been largely negative.

Among the other findings of the poll, an overwhelming 83% of voters surveyed say the government should reduced expenses over raising taxes and that a full examination of expenditures is needed.

The survey, taken between Feb 19-20 also found that 7 in 10 voters think that government expenditures are filled with waste and agree with cutting $1 trillion in expenses.

Pollsters say that DOGE investigations were one of the Trump administration policies that are currently receiving high approval from U.S. voters, with the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes and closing the border rounding out the top three.

A press release from Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS Harris Poll and Stagwell Chairman and CEO, stated:

People are taking a generally positive wait-and-see attitude for Trump but have really reassessed their attitudes toward Biden, Harris, and the Democrats, taking a much harsher, more negative attitude. Trump has a real opportunity here — we’re seeing a healthy, trudging approval edging toward real approval based on how the next couple of months turn out.

The poll shows strong disagreement between Republican and Democratic voters, which appears to track with a Feb 13-19 Washington Post Ipsos poll showing a clear divide over Elon Musk and the DOGE team along partisan lines.

That poll showed 70% of Republicans in support of Musk and DOGE with only 6% of Democrats surveyed indicating approval.

The Harvard CAPS Harris poll also showed that 68% of independents surveyed believe that Democrats should get on board with Republican efforts to reduce government expenditures and cut waste.

Regardless of how voters feel about the personalities involved, it appears that support is strong for reducing the federal government’s fiscal footprint.
