On Tuesday, new information from the House Homeland Security Committee revealed that the Biden Administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) saw thousands of illegal aliens fly to over 45 cities across the U.S.
As reported by Just The News, the subpoena from the Committee forced the DHS to reveal details of its parole program for thousands of illegals, which was established in October of 2022. It was originally intended for Venezuelans to enter the country if they had an American sponsor and passed a vetting process, but was later drastically expanded to include the countries of Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua.
Although the parole program did not secure the flights for the illegals, it allowed them to enter the country so that they could then make their own flights. Over the course of just eight months, from January to August of 2023, the program allowed over 200,000 illegals to enter the country.
The primary destination for the illegals was Florida, including the cities of Miami, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale; approximately 80% of the 200,000 chose Florida as their final destination. Other top destinations for illegals included New York, California, Texas, Nevada, and Georgia.
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas defended the program as “a safe and orderly way to reach the United States,” and also claimed, with no evidence, that it “ resulted in a reduction in numbers of those nationalities.”
“It is a key element of our efforts to address the unprecedented level of migration throughout our hemisphere,” Mayorkas said in a statement last month. “And other countries around the world see it as a model to tackle the challenge of increased irregular migration that they too are experiencing.”
As of October 2023, there were still at least 1.6 million illegals still waiting for DHS to approve their applications. Currently, the program only allows about 30,000 illegals to enter the U.S. every month. Illegals who are approved are granted work permits and authorized to live in the country for two years.
“These documents expose the egregious lengths Secretary Mayorkas will go to ensure inadmissible aliens reach every corner of the country, from Orlando and Atlanta to Las Vegas and San Francisco,” said Congressman Mark Green (R-Tenn.), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in a statement. “Secretary Mayorkas’ parole program is an unlawful sleight of hand used to hide the worsening border crisis from the American people.”
For his poor handling of the border crisis, Mayorkas was impeached by the House of Representatives in February, becoming only the second Cabinet secretary in American history to be impeached, and the first one in 148 years. After the Senate repeatedly delayed acceptance of the articles of impeachment, the Democratic majority voted to end the trial without even holding a vote on whether to convict or acquit Mayorkas.
