On Monday, White House Border Czar Tom Homan revealed that the number of daily encounters with illegal aliens at the southern border has plummeted by nearly 98% from the Biden Administration’s totals under the Trump Administration.

As reported by The Epoch Times, Homan shared the statistics in an X post on Presidents’ Day, declaring that “in the last 24 hours the US Border Patrol has encountered a total of 229 aliens across the entire southwest border.”

“That is down from a high of over 11,000 a day under Biden,” Homan continued. “I started as a Border Patrol Agent in 1984 and I don’t remember the numbers ever being that low. President Trump promised a secure border and he is delivering.”

With daily encounters dropping by over 10,700 compared to Biden, this marks a decrease of 97.9%.

Several investigative journalists specializing in the immigration crisis weighed in on Homan’s statement. Fox News’ Bill Melugin responded by calling the numbers “just wild,” noting that he “would have trouble finding any illegal aliens if I went down to the border right now.”

Julio Rosas, a correspondent for The Blaze, said that “the first time I was in the [Rio Grande Valley], I saw almost 300 illegal immigrants in a few hours in one area, then it jumped to over 500 illegals at one time.” He then noted that although “there is a lot left to do with border security/immigration, these numbers are a huge victory for the Trump administration.

President Trump had campaigned heavily on a vow to secure the southern border and carry out the largest mass deportation operation in American history. Shortly after returning to office, he signed numerous executive orders on immigration, including declaring a state of emergency along the southern border, ending the practice of “catch and release,” and reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy, among other priorities.

On the deportation front, Homan further reported that “interior arrests by ICE have increased more than 137% under President Trump.”

Arrests of aliens with criminal convictions have doubled under President Trump. The arrests of illegal alien gang members has also doubled,” Homan continued. “Our streets and neighborhoods are that much safer under President Trump. We are less than a month in and have more to do.”
