Following a wave anti-ICE domestic terrorist violence in the city, far-left Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson on Monday signed an executive order designating city-owned properties as “ICE-Free Zones,” prohibiting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from using these areas for operations.

“Today we are signing an executive order aimed at reining in this out of control administration,” Johnson announced during a press conference. “ICE-Free Zones. That means city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids.”

Federal Immigration officers descended on Chicago in early September as part of Operation Midway Blitz, targeting illegal immigrants with criminal records. As of October 3, ICE has arrested of over 1,000 illegal aliens across Illinois, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Monday’s directive follows Johnson’s executive order from August 30, 2025, which barred the Chicago Police Department from collaborating with federal authorities on immigration enforcement, patrols, or checkpoints during federal immigration crackdowns.

The mayor’s order also coincides with an Illinois lawsuit to block National Guard deployments to the city.

That lawsuit, filed Monday by officials in Illinois and Chicago, alleges Trump’s authorization Saturday to deploy 300 troops to the crime-ridden blue city is “unlawful and dangerous.”

“The Trump administration must end its attempts to dismantle our democracy,” Johnson declared on Monday, dubiously claiming that the city has made “historic progress in reducing violence” in the city.

The Socialist-backed mayor accused the Trump administration of trying to “destabilize the city and provoke chaos.”

Johnson went on to say, bizarrely, that the right (Republicans) have “refused to accept the results of the Civil War.”

“They have repeatedly called for a rematch,” he declared, without providing examples.

When asked what’s on the table if ICE continues rounding up criminal illegals in the sanctuary city, he replied, “Everything.”

“In the coming weeks, we will use this opportunity to build greater resistance,” he said, adding that Chicago Police will be responsible for enforcing his “ICE-Free Zones.”

“If they [ICE] are in violation, that’s why we have the Department of Law,” Johnson said. “We are using every single tool that’s available to us.”

Later Monday, with Governor JB Pritzker at his side, the mayor framed the issue as a “battle between authority” and the 700 left-wing agitators who have “organized and built a resistance” against ICE operations in the Northside of Chicago.

“That’s a clear example of how the organizing on the ground plays an incredible role in defending people,” Johnson stated.

In the past week, federal law enforcement in the Windy City have been under increasing attack by violent anti-ICE agitators.

Left-wing domestic terrorists ambushed Border Patrol law enforcement officers Saturday morning, ramming the federal agents with their vehicles, according to DHS.

This attack involved a ten-car caravan blockading federal immigration officers.

Marimar Martinez, a female agitator who was driving one of the vehicles, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon and has a history of doxxing federal agents.

She was briefly hospitalized after taking defensive fire from CBP agents. Martinez is currently in the custody of the FBI. Anthony Ian, the driver of another vehicle involved in the ramming incident has also been apprehended by law enforcement.

The scene became increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement. Another domestic terrorist was arrested for assaulting CBP at the scene. Following JB Prtizker’s refusal to allow local police to help secure the scene, Secretary Noem has deployed special operations teams to restore law and order.

As our ICE law enforcement was responding to the shooting, a domestic terrorist followed them and rammed their vehicle in an attempt to run them off the road. This individual has also been arrested and is in HSI custody.

An ICE vehicle popped a tire and was subsequently mobbed by domestic terrorists, forcing law enforcement to abandon the vehicle for their own safety. The vehicle was significantly damaged.

Several CBP law enforcement officers were sent to the hospital with various injuries.

“These attacks on our brave law enforcement officers must END. Secretary Noem has taken action to deploy additional resources to restore law and order,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “We will not allow domestic terrorists to attack our law enforcement. If you lay a hand on law enforcement, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

On Thursday, ICE officers were targets of two separate vehicular assaults in the Chicago metro area.

In Bensenville, Illinois and again in Norridge, IL criminal illegal aliens weaponized their vehicles in deliberate attempts to ram and injure officers carrying out their sworn duty to uphold our nation’s immigration laws.

“Thankfully none of our law enforcement was killed because of these deranged criminals’ attacks on law enforcement. This is exactly what happens when Governor Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and other sanctuary politicians demonize ICE and encourage illegal aliens to resist law enforcement,” said McLaughlin. “Our ICE law enforcement is facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults—including cars—being used as weapons against them. Secretary Noem has been clear: anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Audio from the police dispatch confirms Chicago police were ordered not to assist the Federal Agents who were cornered by the left-wing radicals Saturday.

Agents were reportedly in route when the order was given.

Chicago Attorney John Garrido said the Chicago Police chief may have broken the law by issuing the stand down order.

“In my 32 years of service with the Chicago Police Department, I have never heard anything this egregious,” Garrido said in a statement posted on X. “No badge should ever be told to turn their back on another officer in distress. Period.”

Pritzker told reporters Monday that he is “not afraid” of President Trump and promised to “get [DHS Secretary Kristi] Noem’s thugs the HELL OUT of Chicago!”

“I won’t back down,” he said.

The mayor called for total resistance against the Trump administration, including his fellow travelers “pushing back against tyranny.”

“It’s going to take everything—litigation, executive orders, legislation, and I believe most importantly, the people of this city, county, and state throughout the country pushing back against tyranny,” he declared.
