Immigration authorities are on the hunt for the illegal aliens responsible for the construction of an elaborate underground tunnel system used to sneak illegals into the U.S. after it was discovered in Texas.

As the Daily Caller reports, agents with the Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) found the “man-made smuggling tunnel” while inspecting a storm drain in El Paso, Texas. The tunnel was built to include electricity and ventilation, and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) declared that the tunnel has been used by “criminal organizations” to smuggle illegals into the US.

The tunnel, which is six feet tall and four feet wide, was constructed sometime within the last year, when immigration spiked due to Biden’s open-border policies and growing fears among illegals that former President Donald Trump would win the 2024 election, which he ultimately did.

CBP said that there is an investigation underway to discover and arrest those who constructed the tunnel, with federal, state, and local law enforcement working together with Mexican authorities to find the perpetrators.

In December, agents in Arizona discovered a smaller tunnel used specifically for smuggling drugs, which was the third such tunnel discovered in the state in 2024. Back in 2022, HSI discovered a massive tunnel that measured 1,744 feet long, which had been dug between California and Mexico.

Biden’s decision to let in as many illegals as possible only created further incentives for smugglers and cartels to construct such tunnels. Ammon Blair, senior fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation and a former Border Patrol Agent, pointed out that “by concentrating efforts on the ‘safe, orderly, humane and regular’ importation of foreign nationals rather than the safety and protection of U.S. citizens and our sovereignty, the administration created greater gaps along the border.”

President-elect Trump, who will be sworn in on January 20th, has vowed to finish construction on the border wall that began in his first term, and has also pledged to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in history.
