The federal government says there’s only been a 2.7% inflation rate for food during the past year, but price tags at the supermarket say otherwise.

In Illinois, for example, the cost of chicken breast at local Jewel-Osco grocery stores as increased by five dollars per pound since 2020 — an increase of 251% since Joe Biden took office, reported the DuPage Policy Journal.

The journal’s analysis showed that a pack of chicken breast at the supermarket chain cost $6.99 per pound as of January 2, 2024, which is $5 more than the $1.99 per pound price tag for chicken breast on Dec. 16, 2022.

American Greatness contributor Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers (LAW) chimed in, telling the policy journal that “the pain at the grocery store checkout is a direct result of the exorbitant borrow-and-spend policies of Joe Biden.”
