In the latest effort to erase American history, the Biden Administration’s National Park Service (NPS) has announced plans to remove a historic statue of the founder of the state of Pennsylvania, located in the heart of Philadelphia.
Breitbart reports that the NPS released a statement on Friday announcing its intention to remove the statue of William Penn in Welcome Park, Philadelphia. Penn, after whom the state of Pennsylvania was named, first founded the Province of Pennsylvania in 1681, as well as the city of Philadelphia in 1682, both under British rule at the time.
In the statement, the NPS announced that it would “propose to rehabilitate Welcome Park to provide a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors,” and goes on to say that “the proposed rehabilitation of Welcome Park includes expanded interpretation of the Native American history of Philadelphia.”
As such, the NPS declared that “the Penn statue and Slate Roof house model,” representing Penn’s historic home which was located on the site of Welcome park, “will be removed and not reinstalled. In a separate and future effort, new exhibit panels will be installed on the south site wall to replace the Penn timeline.”
Penn, a Quaker and strong advocate for religious freedom, was well-known for his peaceful relationship with the Native American population of his day.
The decision marks yet another historic monument that has been targeted by the Biden Administration since he first took power. Biden first announced his 2020 campaign with a video message denouncing the incident in Charlottesville in August of 2017, when a peaceful crowd of right-wing protesters, showing support for a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, were attacked by Antifa and other far-left agitators. The subsequent brawl led to one left-wing protester’s death from a heart attack, though the mainstream media immediately and falsely blamed the violence on the right-wing attendees.
Following the nationwide race riots in 2020 after the fentanyl overdose death of George Floyd in May of that year, numerous Confederate monuments and other historic statues and landmarks were vandalized and destroyed by mobs of black nationalist and Anarcho-Communist agitators, with many local governments removing monuments as well out of fear of further violence. Since Biden took over, the federal government has used its power to remove or rename other historic locations.
Most recently, the Biden Administration removed the iconic Confederate Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery, despite widespread backlash from descendants of Confederate veterans and many others. A judge initially blocked the removal before reversing and allowing it to go through, at which point the monument was removed in late December.
