A new report claims that the Biden Administration has put a hold on a new shipment of American ammunition to Israel to assist in its war against Hamas, a stunning rebuke of the United States’ strongest ally in the Middle East.

According to Axios, two Israeli officials confirmed the halt on the ammunition shipment last week, which is the first time such a shipment was denied by the Biden Administration since the devastating October 7th terrorist attacks against Israel by Hamas which launched the ongoing war.

Despite initially vowing full support for Israel at the start of the war, Biden has begun backtracking his support in recent months due to widespread riots in the U.S. against Israel, particularly on college campuses and largely carried out by Muslim Americans and young Americans. In February, the Biden Administration demanded that Israel provide proof that American weaponry was not being used to violate international law, which Israel confirmed with a signed letter in March.

Current hostilities revolve around the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, which Israel allegedly plans to invade due to a strong Hamas presence there. But Biden and other world leaders have tried to urge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to not carry out the invasion, due to Rafah becoming a popular destination for refugees. Nevertheless, Netanyahu has remained strong and has issued several statements declaring his intention to order an invasion imminently.

In a statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Netanyahu hinted at Biden and other world leaders abandoning Israel, thus vowing to take matters into his own hands.

“In the terrible Holocaust, there were great world leaders who stood by idly,” Netanyahu’s statement read. “Therefore, the first lesson of the Holocaust is: If we do not defend ourselves, nobody will defend us. And if we need to stand alone, we will stand alone.”

Several high-profile Biden Administration officials have either publicly or privately voiced their opposition to an invasion of Rafah, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. Their arguments have primarily focused on the refugee presence there as well as the likelihood that such an invasion would damage already-fragile peace negotiations, which are currently being overseen by Egypt and Qatar.
