On Wednesday, the Biden Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its intentions to hand out over $600 million of taxpayer money to grant-making organizations that support “environmental justice” protests.
The Daily Caller reports that the funds will go to 11 different organizations, ranging from universities to activist groups. In addition to promoting protests in the streets, the recipients will also pursue various environmental projects such as training programs and “healthy homes” efforts.
The funding will come from the EPA’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program, which was only recently created as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) passed last year. Despite the title, the bill had very little to do with inflation and instead largely focused on efforts to combat so-called “global warming.” The $600 million designated for this particular purpose is just a portion of the overall $3 billion that will be spent on global warming-related initiatives due to the passage of the IRA.
“Every person has a right to drink clean water, breathe clean air, and live in a community that is healthy and safe,” said Vice President Kamala Harris. “For too long, however, low-income communities, immigrant communities, Native communities, and communities of color have endured disproportionate levels of air, water, and soil pollution.”
“That is why President Joe Biden and I have put equity at the center of our nation’s largest investment in climate in history. Today’s announcement puts that commitment into action by ensuring critical resources to fund environmental justice projects across the country reach the organizations that know their communities best,” she added.
Some of the universities that will receive funding include Fordham University and Texas Southern University, while groups include the Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) and the Minneapolis Foundation. Although it is being funded due to its environmental stance, the Minneapolis Foundation – which is set to receive at least $50 million from the EPA – also focused on “racial and economic justice grants” to groups that promote “structural and systems change through policy advocacy, organizing and movement building.”
Meanwhile, the Climate Justice Alliance, which is also set to receive $50 million, has publicly supported the pseudo-state of “Palestine,” which has been waging war on the state of Israel since October 7th. The CJA has described its support for “Palestine” to be a “climate justice issue,” and even protested at the United Nations’ most recent COP28 summit in support of the terrorists. The CJA has also expressed its support for a cop-killer, Manuel Teran, a far-left activist who opened fire on police during a riot in Atlanta, only to be killed by return fire; the group described his killing as a “political assassination.”
Watchdogs noted that the distribution of funds appears to be less about addressing the climate, and instead about funding political allies of the White House.
“No matter if they are dubbed grantmakers or climate corps,” said Daniel Turner, founder of Power the Future, “the mission is the same: use taxpayer dollars to build networks of political support.”
