A water slide on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas suffered a malfunction Thursday, injuring an adult guest when an acrylic glass panel broke off while the individual was using the slide.

The guest, whose condition is stable, received medical attention and is being treated for injuries.

“Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide,” according to a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson. “The guest is being treated for his injuries.”

Officials did not immediately disclose the severity of the injuries suffered in the incident or the identity of the guest involved.

The slide has been closed for the remainder of the sailing as an investigation takes place, Royal Caribbean said, and the investigation is ongoing.
