Three LAPD officers have been shot Wednesday night in a "violent encounter," the chief of police said.

"Following closely tonight’s violent encounter resulting in 3 officers being shot," Chief Michel Moore tweeted. "Reports from hospital have all three in stable condition. Ongoing tactical scene with outstanding gunman."
